Time and sense

Nynke June 3rd, 2007

The Doctor: Adric, I’ve given you a privileged insight into the mystery of time, yes?
Adric: Yes.
The Doctor: Introduced you to adventures beyond imagining, yes?
Adric: Yes.
The Doctor: And you criticize my logic?
Adric: No, no, I’m just saying that a lot of the time you don’t really make sense.
The Doctor: Oh, you’ve noticed that have you? Well, anybody can make sense.

More of those quotes from Dr Who:

“First things first, but not necessarily in that order.”

“I suppose the best way to find out where you come from is to find out where you’re going, and then work backwards.”

“”Eureka” is Greek for “this bath is too hot”.”

Dimensions and energy: more to it!

Nynke June 2nd, 2007

Not the “official” imaginations from string theory, I did find it a lovely video making “things” understandable for more people, instead of only available to a few intellectuals. This imagination already ran around the web couple of times and is from Imagining the Tenth Dimension: A new way of thinking about time and space, a book by Rob Bryanton. And of course, Flatlanders will remain my favorite!

As for energy, mythbusters did an episode on Energy from the Vacuum, and claimed it to be a hoax. We noticed how, perhaps conveniently, a couple of magnets were left out … I guess mythbusters are busted. And so are Maxwell’s equations. Lots of people have been working on this, for years now. Among them are Tom Bearden, who’s mailing list I am subscribed to, who’s book Energy from the Vacuum I have read, documentary watched. And not just Tom works on this. A whole team. And also a Russian team, and more. Several experiments all over the world have already succeeded. And Tom has given his patents to the world, for all to use, instead of making a deal with energy power blocks.

In the with this YouTube clip associated award-winning, feature length, two-hour broadcast-quality documentary you can learn about the latest developments in the field of Free and Zero Point Energy from Tesla to Dennis Lee. Hosted by Bill Jenkins, formerly of ABC Radio, this comprehensive documentary features physicists and inventors who are challenging orthodox science to bring this non-polluting technology forward despite ridicule and suppression. See actual working prototypes that defy classical physics including phenomenal experiments in anti-gravity and the transmutation of metals.

With the end of fossil fuels in sight, the race to save the planet is on.

What happens when spiral galaxies collide?

Nynke June 1st, 2007

Hans Konstapel sent me a link to this youtube video:

“Two billion years from now, our galaxy is in for a shock. With every hour that passes, the Milky Way gets half a million kilometres closer to another large spiral galaxy called Andromeda, and it is only a matter of time before we collide. Over the course of 3 billion years or so, the galaxies will swing through each other, stretching out long, wispy streams of stars before settling down and merging into one. That much we know.

Yet that picture is far from complete. Lying at the centre of our galaxy is a giant black hole more than 3 million times as massive as the sun. The black hole at the heart of Andromeda is believed to be 10 times the size. What will happen to these supermassive black holes during the encounter is anyone’s guess.”

In return I sent Hans a link to this youtube video:

“Diamond produces x-ray, infrared and ultra-violet beams of exceptional brightness. These highly focused beams of light enable scientists and engineers to probe deep into the basic structure of matter and materials, answering fundamental questions about everything from the building blocks of life to the origin of our planet.”

Multiverse

Nynke May 28th, 2007

A multiverse allows the fundamental constants of nature to change at the point of a black hole where a new trajectory of spacetime is birthed. Gaia … is (building us (into)) a stargate!

Okay, this is hard to word. More will follow later …

Spirals down can go up

Nynke June 22nd, 2006

I noticed the following patterns in a multinational mammoth:

Atrophied emotional skills and some mistakes being made over and over again.

The worst case scenario I could come up with for this context was:

  • Atrofied emotional skills leading to stifling of self, life and others, resulting in lack of effective communication and unmet expectations from upper management, as upper management sets unattainable objectives, then avoids being challenged with the needs of self, life, and others that were overlooked.
  • Executive management will not hold themselves accountable, and as a result, upper management can and will not walk talk and talk walk.
  • This then could mean upper management will not take responsibility and the company becomes a headless body and upper management a mad stakeholder, using budgets for powerplays more than for useful resource distribution for moving forward.
  • History gets written by conquerers. Retrospectives are not done. Questions not asked. By all means, let’s not include other people’s experiences in history. Our denial wouldn’t work if we do.
  • And that’s not where it stops: Middle management experiences lack of influence, and lack of possibilities for career advancement, for the gap between management and upper management becomes too large. Creative and ambitious people wanting to actually solve some problems and enjoy being good at what they do, start voting with their feet.
  • For everybody in this system that doesn’t walk away, will end up with low self esteem.

Can this spiral be turned around?

I am using my wild imagination for a best case scenario that might turn this spiral around:

  • Upper management makes space for gathering necessary and sufficient data and resources. As in, there are a few bright ones that take responsibility. Retrospectives can be a useful tool for that. Transparent measurements too. Get creative!
  • Then more space is made for gathering more useful feedback, like for increasing (potential) customer satisfaction, heading off competition, keeping investors and shareholders happy too, for anticipating changes, and for (more) learning from each other’s mistakes. This is where scenario planning could come in.
  • Upper management is now heard and seen in that created space, and learns about the importance of adequate training, offering challenging work to high performers ready to rock, the importance of fair compensation, and about respect. Upper management is heard and seen walking their talk and talking their walk.
  • This effectively makes for trust connections between executive management and their bodies, and with joy executives find opportunities for participation and empowerment of others, by which they themselves become less overloaded. A bit of wishful thinking does not truly harm, especially when it is a beautiful wish for expansive professional optimism. :-)))
  • The big gain follows: The gestalt of this organization becomes a continuous learner, so do its people, and as a whole, it becomes very attractive to other high performers.
  • Everybody in this system can end up with high self esteem. Golly! Let’s make some stories with happy endings!!!

Or something like that. I’m a fool, I know.
Let us not have Mammoths go extinct this time.
Save the Multinational Mammoths!

Bridging by thought not what it seems?

Nynke May 13th, 2006

A thought, idea or insight “we” explain isn’t the thought “others” hear.

Even as a single individual, my “own” understanding of a concept will change as I learn more about it by implementing it in different contexts. Most of the natural differences between different contexts will be simple to bridge, but whenwhere does a thought change into a variation of itself, or even into a completely different “original” thought?

It all depends on what significance people assign to a particular “thought”. And whether or not we need/have an authoritative source to refer to, or work from our own related recollections of experiences which can be rather vague, or hard to distinguish well enough, and hard to explain, for becoming (re)useful in an other context.

We often call such recollections “internal babble” or “irrelevant”, in order to more easily ignore associations and messages bubbling up.

I grew up learning to associate particular symbols to particular states for distinguishing internal parts involved. Such translation of perceptions into symbolic code does not guarantee perfect reproduction of original perception. Even within a gestalt perceptive field of an individual each distinctive part in a perception can and will take on new qualities as the field changes. And field changes can give birth to imperceptible alternatives.

What if there is (no) continuity between distinguished parts?

What if field changes create different perceptions?

Can a particular snowflake, seen on the level of detail where no snowflake seems the same, ever be reproduced exactly the same again in some future?

Renewal

My philosopher likes philosophers,
my mystic mystics of all kinds,
my open sourcer sourcers openly.
Where are selves in all this?

They get together on occasion,
competitiveness making
harmony hard to dance,
and only for short time spans.

Much in the way mystics with philosophers
Selves with open sourcers,
and open sourcers with mys tics,
not all that well together mix.

Yet these events together build
self confidence and esteem,
self open sourcers out,
mystical philosophers in.

Both open source and mystic
support relationships
where mystery is giving
and open source receiving.

Clueless beyond belief
overcoming decisive enthusiasm,
less desirable hands,
and pushy, loud demands.

The really hard dance starts
aligning selves with mysteriously
relating open sourcing philosopher,
and self serving philosopher.

For getting things done,
while having fun,
playing steady and cautious,
tolerating forward aloneness.

Doing all things right,
discerning self and other,
knowing just serving time a bother,
for truly meeting one another.

Bridging natural differences
sparking attraction,
patience and responsiveness,
taking charge, and accepting risk.

Learning discretion, (re)perceiving,
becoming more relaxed and
sociable by being around
open sourcers working a bound.

Yielding personal control needs,
selves cocreating open space for
philosophers being more direct,
and open concerning self detect.

Regardless everything above
catering to particular needs,
truly desiring to know who other is,
will always give wanted abyss.
